Questions and answers
Before you blame
the letters.
Do I need an account?
No. Choose a nickname and play in the browser. Backronym does not require a password, social login or app-store download.
How many people can play?
A room supports up to 10 players. The game is most lively when several people can write and vote, but there is no requirement to fill every place.
What counts as a valid answer?
Each word should begin with the corresponding prompt letter, in the displayed order. The room ultimately decides what it enjoys, so proper names, contractions and delightfully questionable grammar are matters for your group rather than an automated dictionary judge.
Can I vote for myself?
The voting stage is designed to reward another player's answer, not your own. Read the full set before choosing; a phrase that looks simple at first can be the one that sticks.
How do private invitations work?
A private-game link includes the key needed to reach that room. Send it directly to your players rather than posting it publicly. Anyone with a working invitation may be able to join while the room is available.
Why did I disconnect?
Phones may suspend browser tabs, and a network can briefly change between Wi-Fi and cellular service. Return to the same tab first and give it a moment to reconnect. If the session cannot resume, reopen the invitation and use the same nickname. A server update can also clear temporary rooms because active game state is held in memory.
Why does the mobile keyboard feel different?
The custom keyboard keeps the game on one screen and prevents the page from jumping when the phone's native keyboard opens. Its invisible touch zones adapt toward plausible next letters to make edge taps more forgiving. Every key remains available and predictions never alter the answer.
Can I share a round?
Yes. Round results can be copied as text so the prompt and the room's answers remain readable in a message or social post. The shared text does not include a screenshot or require the recipient to install anything.
Is the game suitable for children?
Backronym is not designed for children under 13. Answers and nicknames are written live by players and are not reviewed before the room sees them. Adults should consider who is in a room and whether the group is appropriate.
How do I report a bug or abusive content?
Email help@backronym.app. For a bug, include the device, browser, approximate time and what you expected to happen. For abuse, include the room and approximate time plus a screenshot when appropriate. Do not send passwords or unrelated personal information.
